CHARACTER DEPARTURES (13/09/03)

Having read The Bill - The Complete Low-Down on 20 Years At Sun Hill, here are a few spoilers about upcoming character departures. Presumably written in the past tense as these events had all been filmed when the author had written the book...

DC MICKEY WEBB
"Webb's myopic view of rape victims was dealt a more permanent blow when he went in pursuit of a gang of thugs. He was overpowered, handcuffed with his own cuffs and then brutally raped. His life in turmoil, he finally broke down and told Meadows but chose to walk out of Sun Hill rather than face the Force Medical Examiner."

PC DES TAVINER & DC DANNY GLAZE

"For when the racist thug Simpson, whom Taviner framed for the bombing of Sun Hill, hired a private investigator to find evidence to support a possible appeal, the truth about Des's involvement emerged at last. As the net closed in, Danny Glaze fled to South Africa and Taviner confessed his sins to Murphy. In the mistaken belief that Murphy had told Okaro, the tormented Taviner drove into a burning building with Hollis in the passenger seat. Reg pulled through but was in hospital for weeks; Des's body was never found. Taviner's death was the second to hit Sun Hill in recent months..."
