Georgia Hobbs started her police career with West Yorkshire Police straight after university. In 1999 she transferred to the Metropolitan police as Superintendent and requested a tough, inner-London operational posting. She was promoted to Chief Superintendent in 2000, attended her senior command course in 2001, before moving up to Commander in 2002 and Deputy Assistant Commissioner in 2004. She was also Chair of the MPS Association of Senior Women Officers, and an active mentor.

Fiercely independent Georgia didn’t want to buy into the institution of marriage – she was already institutionalised from the job. Nonetheless she liked to kick back with uncomplicated affairs. No one could accuse her of sleeping her way to the top as she always chose casual partners below her rank. She worked to encourage the recruitment of female and ethnic minority officers. Georgia was of the opinion that a woman, with herself a prime candidate, should be considered when the time came to recruit a new Met commissioner after Sir Ian Blair.

Unfortunately for her, these plans never came to fruition. Georgia was last seen being arrested by the DPS after her corrupt dealings surrounding the closure of Sun Hill came to light.
