POPULAR cop drama The Bill is set to shock fans with a hard-hitting INCEST storyline.

Millions of viewers will watch as PC Gabriel Kent enjoys a steamy romp with Sergeant June Ackland — only to find out later she’s his mother.

The bobby, played by former EastEnders star Todd Carty, 41, kissed June — 51-year-old Trudie Goodwin — in last week’s episode.

Next month the pair will slip under the covers. But their romantic bliss will be shattered by the news that Gabriel is actually the son June gave up for adoption when she was a schoolgirl.

June became pregnant after being raped at 15 and has not seen her son since.

The shocking news is uncovered by officers at Sun Hill nick when they dig into Gabriel’s past and discover he was adopted at birth. A show insider said: “There is something dodgy about Gabriel, so his colleagues decide to do some digging.

“It is really like a scene out of a Greek tragedy and it will blow Sun Hill apart. There’s never been a storyline like it before. There are going to be some astonishing scenes.”

The police officers have become closer since June (Trudie Goodwin) split with married lover PC Jim Carver (Mark Wingett).

"June is completely unaware that she's his mother and this is a real twist in the storyline. Gabriel is an enigma and he will show his dark side soon when he attacks Carver with a bottle," the spokeswoman added (this incident will happen in 2 weeks time  -Ed).
