KERRY COPS OFF (9/3/04)

From the TV Gossip section in Closer magazine:

In upcoming weeks, viewers of ITV1's The Bill will see PC Kerry Young (Beth Cordingly) risk her relationship and possibly her career at Sun Hill. An illicit snog with Sergeant Dale "Smithy" Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) leads to all hell breaking loose at the station.

After a night out at the pub, the two of them end up in a drunken clinch, little knowing that twisted PC Gabriel Kent (Todd Carty) is watching. With beer goggles firmly in place, Kerry and Smiffy end up sleeping together, despite the fact the Kerry is seeing the much fitter PC Cameron Tait (Beth's real-life boyfriend Daniel MacPherson).

But the next morning Kerry can't remember a thing, so Kent uses the situation to persuade her that Smith raped her.

Then, when PC Yvonne Hemmingway (Michele Austin) finds out about the allegation, she urges Kerry to file a report, and she does just that.

In a romantic twist, Daniel and Beth, whose explosive storyline kicks off on 25 March, fell in love in real life after meeting on set last year and, after splitting briefly, they're happier than ever now.
