Terry Knowles arrived at Sun Hill as a Special Constable. He joined the service because he was determined to make a difference to his community. His other work was as a double-glazing salesman, a profession he saw as being boring and rigid. Terry was a keen and enthusiastic member of the relief, baring jokes from officers like Tony Stamp for being a 'part-timer'. He particularly looked up to PC Des Taviner, who had been acting as a kind of mentor towards him, much to the chagrin of Sgt. Gilmore.

Terry had to deal with a number of domestics in his time at the station and also with a very personal case, when he discovered a registered sex offender was living near his sister and her two daughters. He was, above all, keen to prove his worth - to all the officers at the station and most importantly to himself. He was thinking of becoming a fully-fledged PC, but was tragically murdered when stopping an attractive lady for a road offence.
