DANIEL LEAVES THE BILL FOR OZ HOME (5/7/04)

Despite the fact that his character - PC Cameron Tait - is still on our screens, actor Daniel MacPherson has sadly already left Blighty.

The hunky Aussie soap star, whose exit from The Bill will be aired shortly, reckons his decision to quit the show was "a long time coming".

The difficult choice came after he realised he wanted to go home and spend time in Australia.

But, he didn't leave without bidding his showbiz pals farewell, and hosted a bash in London to say goodbye.

Viewers will see Tait leave Sun Hill after battering evil Gabriel (Todd Carty) when he discovers he assaulted pretty PC Kerry Young, played by Beth Cordingly.

The pair clash in the canteen after Gabriel makes a snide comment to Cameron.

After around two years playing the role, MacPherson reckons he won't forget the part easily.

"I thought nothing could get harder than Neighbours, but it was great."
