The Bill spin-off Murder Investigation Team (MIT) returns for a second series on ITV1 with its ranks bolstered by a crop of fresh faces.

Drafted in from Sun Hill will be bolshy DC Eva Sharpe, played by Diane Parish. New recruits will also include The Kumars At No.42 star Meera Syal and former Casualty hunk Will Mellor.

They will join cast regular, ex-EastEnder Lindsey Coulson, when the series returns later this year with four feature-length episodes centred round the Metropolitan Police's Special Crimes Unit.

Each traces an inquiry from the discovery of a body to the solving of the crime, through the eyes of the MIT officers. The new series is expected to air in the autumn.
