The recent explosion at Sun Hill has left The Bill's cast looking rather depleted, while Jim Carver's departure after more than 20 years in the show was also something of a bombshell.

However, there are a couple of new recruits who should breathe new life into the show.

On March 23, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks veteran Nick Patrick joins the show as new receptionist 'JT'.

He's brought in to replace Marilyn (Vickie Gates) who died in the explosion.

In case you think you've seen him before, Nick had also made two appearances in The Bill before signing up as a regular character.

His debut as a regular character will be hard for some to bear - none more so that of bereaved Reg Hollis (Jeff Stewart). Watch this space!

A week later on March 30, Chris Jarvis arrives as Dan Casper.

Fun loving Dan is described as 'a good boy, with an eye for fast cars and the ladies'.

Chris has spent many years treading the boards in the West End Theatre, with roles in Chicago, Saturday Night Fever, Cats and Contact.

Film fans may also have spotted him in the movies Beyond the Sea and The Phantom of the Opera.
