From Yahoo entertainment news:
The
Bill star Todd Carty has revealed that he
may try and return to the police drama so he can get more leaving presents -
despite his scheming character's imminent departure from Sun Hill.
The soap's second live episode in as many years will spell the beginning of the end for PC Gabriel Kent. But the former EastEnders actor has a spooky idea for how to make an unexpected return.
"I've sort of gone and come back again. Every one keeps saying, `Hadn't you gone?' I've been leaving for the past six months, but I've got lots of presents along the way so I might come back as a ghost and get more presents next year."
After the success of the first live episode of The Bill two years ago, done to celebrate the show's 20th anniversary, the cast and crew have bravely decided to do another one, this time based around a hostage situation that develops at Sun Hill when a distraught father makes a crazed attempt at revenge.
In an attempt to up the ante after the last live episode, The Bill are promising more drama and even more stunts this time round when it goes live on September 22.
"I don't think there were any glitches last time," says Todd. "Hopefully we'll have the same luck this time. There's lots more stunts and action than last time, though. I'm only indirectly involved with one of the stunts, so good luck to those poor actors who have to do them live on screen. I'm only very close to one of the stunts so if that goes pear-shaped I might have to do five minutes step-dancing or something."
In a dramatic twist, Gabriel's brother - the real Gabriel Kent - turns up unexpectedly. It will mark the end of two years which have seen the scheming copper bring a new level of corruption to a police station that has seen more than its fair share.
In
one shocking storyline after another he has seduced Sgt
June Ackland before lying to her that he was her long lost son; raped PC
Kerry Young, unwittingly making her pregnant, before shooting her; and when
his crimes were discovered by undercover cop Andrea
Dunbar he left her to die in an explosion at Sun Hill.
"He gets away with it because he's always one step ahead of the pack," explains Todd. "And maybe those fine officers at Sun Hill have taken their eye off the ball slightly. They haven't realised that a murderer and rapist has been in their midst, working alongside them
"He's been very lucky, but he's very clever and cunning as well. There's obviously people at the station that hate him, a load of people who would love to see his demise, but he's just got lucky with clever planning. But in the end those fine officers at Sun Hill will get their man."
Indeed they will. October sees Gabriel meet a sticky end after a rooftop confrontation with Sgt June Ackland and Sgt Dale 'Smithy' Smith. Whether he jumps or is pushed remains to be seen but what is certain is that there'll be no opportunity for Todd to return as Gabriel.
