THE BILL has gone all PC with a new officer who is black, Christian AND gay.

Actor Ofo Uhiara will join Sun Hill as probationer PC Lance Powell.

Viewers will see him pound the beat alongside PC Gary Best (Ciaran Griffiths) — who then gets a shock when he finds out his new colleague likes fellas.

But young Lance, who has a steady boyfriend, does not hide his sexuality.

And he reveals he has joined the police force after reaching a turning point in his life.

He still comes a cropper when fellow recruit Andrea Dunbar (Natalie Robb) takes an interest in him. She is really an undercover reporter planning an exposé about racism in the Met Police.

Ofo, 28, told TV Biz: “Lance’s sexuality could be a bit of a shock for Sun Hill. He’s a complex character but is at ease with himself.

“It remains to be seen what the rest of Sun Hill are going to make of him.”
