DC Mickey Webb is in his early 30s, Essex born and bred. He came to Sun Hill originally from Porter's Avenue police station, near Dagenham. Mickey has always been cocky and unashamedly ambitious, with the ruthlessness and guile to achieve his goals. Very self-possessed, he has a glib, often bullying humour, and a rough charm which barely disguised his cynical approach to women. He has the brains to make his own way, and only occasionally bites off more than he can chew.

Following a brutal rape attack and the sudden death of his mother in 2003, Mickey couldn't bear to speak about it let alone continue to look his colleagues in the eye. He decided the only way to move on with his life was to leave Sun Hill and accept a transfer to MIT. He returned to the station in 2005 as a Sergeant with the National Crime Squad to investigate DI Manson, whom NCS suspected of corruption. Mickey was to make an unwelcome discovery when the investigation eventually cleared Neil but pointed to the guilt of his fiancée, DS Liz Garrett, as a mole leaking information from NCS. With his faith in his own judgement, both personal and professional, severely shaken, Mickey decided to take a break from police work. He was brought back into contact with Sun Hill again when Delaney, the man who raped and assaulted Mickey, escaped from prison and Mickey wanted a piece of the search for him. Though he and Jack succeeded in bringing down Delaney, Mickey faced discipline as a consequence of his unofficial involvement in the case. Jack saved his career by offering him a DC's job back at Sun Hill.

With Delaney now back inside, Mickey has laid a personal ghost to rest, and he's been eager to re-establish himself in CID and leave behind any baggage that he might be thought to carry. He is outwardly respectful towards his seniors but often scathing with his peers who have difficulty trusting him. Quicker to create enemies than friends, Mickey has quickly become a popular face in CID again. Mickey was formerly very close to Jack - his cheeky charm kept him from being turfed out by the DCI on more than one occasion - but he may now feel the need to distance himself a little.
